Computer Security

I've been playing around with my router lately. I was trying to put a password on mine because it was "unprotected". My neighbors probably do not know which router is their's so... our bandwith has been really bad. I put a WPA2 encryption on my router, and everything seems fine now.

Putting a password on your router will also help you get protected from viruses as well. The passcode is kinda a big WALL protecting you from viruses.

I won't be posting much these days... Homework -_-

gaming powerpc laptops

I haven't really tried out the games I got for my ibook after installing Leopard on it. The test came this weekend. It was actually thanksgiving this weekend (Canada) and there was a party at my friend's house. But my friends had to leave for something, and that made me lonely. Then came my iBook. I had the choice between BF1942, COD1, Age of empires 2, Minecraft, some light arcade games such as pac-mac and chopper. I decided to start out with COD. It ran beautifully even at medium settings! I had a blast playing it and eventually completed a whole campaign. I bet you if you had a powerbook with a better graphics card, you could run COD no problem at high settings.

After I got bored of COD, I started to play BF1942. Although it was a very nice game, It lagged when I put 200% bots or when I increased the settings. A powerbook would do the trick. But I still had a LOT of fun playing it.

After that it was about 11PM, I decided to play minecraft! Usually I would play on my home server, but I was at my friend's house so that was not possible. Singleplayer with optifine (lowest settings) I would get about 15fps. Decent enough for this computer. Usually I would get 40 fps when I play it on my home server.

At 12, I watched a movie on putlocker. Although it was a bit laggy, it was still "watchable".

Old PC

I own a very very old PC. The monitor for the ancient thing broke. So now its connected to the TV. It is actually very useful and helpful.

1. Get a good browser. Old PC's such as mine has low specs. 512mbs of RAM, 3.33 GHz Celestron Processor...  A good browser for painfully slow PC's is Pale Moon. It is such a wonderful little piece of software. It has the looks of Firefox, but has a lot of unused features cut. This browser is amazing!! Firefox only let me watch 360P videos, with Pale Moon, I can watch 720P video at 20fps!!!

2. Keep it clean and fast. Delete unwanted files and uninstall unused programs regularly. Once your PC gets too slow, you will feel very mad...

3. Backup movies. If you backup tons of movies, you can enjoy them without having to look at small screens!

4. You can even get some old games! I have Battlefield 1942 on mine! I had a blast playing it this weekend. It looks so cool on the large screen! Try not to get viruses though...

Really sorry

I am very exhausted from all of this school work... But today, I will give you a special post.

You must know right now that I do not like Intel very much... But Intel is definitely the way to go. But I have a suggestion for Apple. I was wondering if Apple can produce a G6 chip. It will be built cheap and designed for the poor. That way Apple can expand its market to the poor as well. It could use the G5(?) architecture so that there are plenty of apps which support it!

I  am very tired, but think about it! It is very possible!

Sick

I've been pretty sick the past few days :(
I would like to note that I was missing school :)
But I'm barely able to do something until now.
Now I will like to start a debate.
Apple in 2005 v.s Apple now.
It's certain that the computers back in 2005 were no match against the ones today. But here's the thing. Is everyone crazy about the Macbook or whatever? Not really. But back in 2005, it was those people who actually appreciated technology that bought Macs. Back then, everyone was so shocked when Apple released something new. But now, its just like, seen that, go on... One could say that Steve Jobs was leading the company in 2005 but now its Tim Cook(?). I would completely agree with you... In 2005, Apple was not even close to the size of Microsoft, but Apple had pride. Honestly, Apple was at it's hight after it released the iPhone. Thats when the cash start pouring in.

The music PowerPC

I find that listening music while doing work is rather relaxing. PowerPC Macs can do just that. Using Itunes, VLC or any other music player, you can listen to just about anything while doing your work. If you have more then 1 GHZ ( I recommend), you can even go on youtube and listen to whatever you like while doing your stuff.

That's about it! My posts are very short these day, sorry, but I really do not have much time. I might manage 1 or 2 posts per week, if I'm not that busy, then I can probably do more :)

New school

For those of you who are students (just like me), PowerPC Macs make awesome working computers! I use my iBook G4 as my "typing" laptop as well as my any other school work that requires a computer. I'm only in grade 7, a laptop is not needed at this moment. But once you get into higher grades, laptops will be very useful.

Sorry, I really do not have time for posts, I changed to a private school this year. It has MUCH more homework.

The Pirate Bay and PowerPC Macs

Who doesn't know the thepiratebay? NOBODY.

Well why am I talking about the piratebay if everyone knows it?

This is why: For those of you who have PowerPC macs, it;s very hard to find the software you need, thats why there is thepiratebay. I buy my software only if it is on ebay :/. But if I can't find it, I turn to thepiratebay as a last resort. I don't recommend you to use thepiratebay, but if you have to, go ahead.

File servers

Do you have a old PC? But you don't know what to do with it? Well a file server would be great for it.

You can access backup files and stream videos from a file server.

The way I do it is by downloading filezilla server and installing it. Its very easy. It's very useful in some cases, if you have a collection of movies, you can always back your movies in your file server and watch them later!

The greatest game on earth!

I know this has nothing to do with computers, but I am national chess champion :D I love this game so so much! It's pretty fun, and you have to use your brain. There are websites such as chesscube and chess.com that offer free chess games online. (They work on PowerPC Macs XD ) Just a short post today, I have a big chess tourney!

I'll post more tomorrow, I promise that.

Long time :/

Hey guys, it's been a long time since I posted something.

Today is gonna be about add-ons!

1. clicktoflash, a awesome add-on! You can block flash advertisements, lower CPU usage, lower temperature, increase battery life not to mention faster web browsing! I would highly recommend you using clicktoflash!

2. clicktoplugin, it disables plugins, I guess it does the same thing as clicktoflash but disables plugins instead.

3. flashtohtml5 is a great way to stream youtube videos! It turns the youtube videos to html instead of flash.

4. youtube5, this is a life saver for me!! I get to stream youtube videos at 360p! It runs a 25~ fps! Its awesome!!

How to connect to internet on the road with PowerPC macs and Intel

Do you want to use your PowerPC mac when you are on the road? There is a simple solution, you will need a Apple iPhone (you can do it with android devices but I'm not sure how, google :) ) 

1. Go on your iPhone and enable personal hotspot.

2. Go on your Mac, and you should find your phone on the wifi network.

3. Connect and enjoy.

I wouldn't recommend watching videos on your computer :/ Your pretty much using your iPhone as a router. Any problems? Just comment me :)

Music on PowerPC macs

Well for those of you who have thousands of songs and have it on your PowerPC mac, well you might not like itunes that much because it's not performance friendly. I got this quick trip to show you how to play music while web browsing.

1. Download VLC PowerPC version, although you might think it only plays video, it can also play music very well, it barely uses any performance compared to itunes and I think its the way to go with PowerPC macs.

2. Where to download your music for free? Easy, we all know that youtube does not run well on PowerPC macs, so the quick fix is to get the link of the music you want to listen, and convert it to Mp3 by going to youtubetomp3.

Another nice feature that was on VLC, was that I could actually put the volume on my iBook G4 speakers higher! It's so much louder then before.

How to calibrate your battery

To calibrate your battery is very simple.

To calibrate your battery, I will give you a few steps

1. Charge your battery until the tip of your charger is green. (until your charger is full)

2. Get a timer (stop watch) record how long it takes to drain the battery.

3. Look at how much your system says how much your battery lasts.

4. Disconnect your power cord, then let your power drain. Ignore all warnings of low battery.

5. Once your battery is drained, note how much it took for it to drain

6. recharge your battery completely, your battery should be calibrated!

How to make movies on PowerPC Macs

Family vacation? Youtube video? Or just making a screen recording.

Well the best video editor is obviously Final Cut Pro. The latest version does not run on PowerPC... Final Cut Pro 5 runs smoothly on my iBook, the 6th version is still runs on PowerPC, but I'm not sure if it would work smoothly on my iBook. I wanted to edit my youtube videos on final cut pro... but it was more complicated to do then I thought. I would take time to watch a one hour video, but I'm just too lazy.

iMovie is very popular as well, but iMovie 8 requires a G5 machine. But iMovie 6 seems to run very well on my iBook. I would still recommend final cut pro more then iMovie but iMovie has a good newbie interface.

For audio recording, I find that Audacity is the best program to do that. It had a very ease to use interface.

Now for screen recorders, the best one is Screenflow, but it is very expensive (I found a copy stored in my basement for some reason...) there is a trial version, but there will be annoying big SCREENFLOW DEMO letters on your recording :/ Screenflow records the full screen as well as sound, I found that is hogs my CPU :( For those of you who do not want to spend money, there is something called Copernicus, it is a good screen recorder, except it does not record sound.

The new family computer!!

Does your family need a computer? But you don't have the money to buy a new Mac? Well thats were PowerPC macs come in, they are relatively fast, and most importantly, they are CHEAP. I bought my iBook G4 for 85 dollars. Pretty cheap huh? Well now I'll just give you a few reasons why your family could use the PowerPC mac!

Is your family sick of getting viruses? Well, a mac will do some good. Either you can't afford a new iMac or just want to test out the operating system, well PowerPC macs will do the trick. They are very affordable, you can get a very decent PowerPC desktop or laptop for under 100 dollars.

Is your family low on computers? Are your computer (s) always in use? Well buying a PowerPC Mac is a very cheap substitute for a new computer. It can browse the web, play light games, edit photos and videos, even watch movies!

Does your family need a file server? But don't want to spend hundreds on a new computer? Well PowerPC macs would be perfect for this job. They can be easily transformed into a file server computer. It shouldn't be hard. A quick google search will find what you need.

Are you a student and you are in a search for a computer? But your budget it very limited, well PowerPC is the way to go!! It can run Office 2008 (Which is just a good as 2011 in my opinion) iWork 09' and iLife 08'. Web browsing is no problem, watching flash based videos is a problem, but you can find handy apps such Youview to stream youtube videos.

Why would I want a PowerPC?

This is the main question from around the PowerPC community, what's the point of getting a powerpc mac? Well, there are many reasons why. I will list them.

1. Web browsing, PowerPC macs are marvelous machines for web browsing! Flash might not be very good, but a higher end G4 or G5 can manage streaming youtube at 360p (not bad) my iBook can go 240p :(. Even with the limitations of flash, web browsing on PowerPC machines are relatively fast. Not as fast as Intel machines but still will do the trick for the average citizen. Online games are not bad on PowerPC macs, Andkon and Armor games run so-so. Don't expect anything like Netflix or facebook games, although putlocker seems to run pretty well with the flash 11 hack (wait 15 minutes for it to buffer)

2. Secondary machines, these are great machines as backup, especially if your main computer is not working or is not available. PowerPC laptops are the best honestly, they are relatively portable (4.5 pounds is not bad, a bit heavy but who cares?? You can also use PowerPC macs as time machine backup or torrent 24/7 (a old PC usually is more useful for that) You can use a mac mini for example as a "Apple TV". Just saying I use my iBook as my main machine and I'm very satisfied :)

3. Transition from PC to Mac, there are plenty of people who want to transition from PC to Mac, but what if you buy a brand new iMac and don't like it? That's when PowerPC computers come in use, you can check out the operating system first and then buy the Mac you want.

PowerPC clean

Someone like me, who really cares about my PowerPC, we all love our PowerPC macs. When I heard some weird noises from my Hard Drive, I got very worried. This is what I mean by caring about your computer! I mean, everyone should do this. Clean your computer, clean your hard drive and have good habits of shutting down your computer when not using it.

For those of you who have a dirty Laptop, I would use Windex on the plastic, as well as alcohol. Have a light spray on your screen with Windex, don't scrub hard on the screen but feel free to scrub as hard as you want on the plastic.

Well that's all I can say about the exterior of your computer... Now for the inside (Hard Drive) make sure to keep your desktop clean, clean your folder, delete unwanted apps and documents. That's about it, so have fun with your clean PowerPC mac!

Windows

Now, as you all know, I am a big Mac fan. But let's talk about Windows a bit. Windows is made by Microsoft. It has been the most popular operating system since the 80s. Honestly, Windows is NOT as good as Mac OS X for different reasons, one of the main reasons why I LOVE Macs is because they basically do not get viruses. Windows is always plagued with viruses.

My family owns 2 Windows computers. We have a HP Pavilion Elite, it's a pretty nice computer that runs Windows 7. The other one is basically my computer. It's a eMachines T3508 running XP. It is my secondary computer, my iBook G4 is my main computer. My family abandoned it after it became too noisy. I resurrected it by installing a clean copy of XP and replacing a noisy fan. It still isn't as quiet as my iBook, but its a great secondary computer.

Sometimes, when my iBook is downloading something big, or processing a movie, I will use my eMachines as my web browser. It actually is a better web browser then my iBook, but it only has 384mbs of RAM (LOL) so opening a tab or multitasking is painfully slow. Once I get my hands on a 1 gbs RAM chip for my PC, it's gonna be pretty fast. Other then that, I use my PC to play chess and burn DVDs, I also use it as my Minecraft Server :) when I play minecraft on my iBook!

Windows is a nice operating system as long as you are not with a virus. It is pretty fast, but the interface is not as good as Mac OS X. Overall I would rate Windows 6.5/10. Windows supports much more applications, but lacks a nice interface and is riddled with viruses.

But not bad. I still wouldn't use my eMachines as my main machine for 2 days. It's so slow, sometimes you just want to rip the screen off. :/

I still would recommend you getting a mac though :)

Browsers for G4 system

Today, I am going to address the browser problem for the G4 systems. Well, as well all know, G4s are not famous for web browsers. They can be very very very slow. This post is gonna give you tips about web browsing on your G4 enjoyable again.

The main problem with G4 web browsing is that our web is constantly evolving, if we were back to the 2005 internet, the G4s would be very, very fast. Now computers more power, so webs are designed more sophisticated because they could be accommodated by the more powerful computers. The only problem is that they forgot about US. The old computer users.

I will give you a list from the browsers you can choose from

-Safari
-Firefox
-Camino
-TenFourFox
-Aurorafox
-Webkit

these are main web browsers, their less known ones such as Opera

Safari and Firefox are unsupported and are very slow, I do not recommend you to use these browsers.

Camino has not been supported since 3 years, but I found that flash pretty well, (I was able to stream a movie from putlocker!) Youtube runs at around 360p on my iBook G4. I use this to play online games, watch movies, stream youtube and sometimes go on flash extensive sites.

TenFourFox is a great web browser. But it lacks support for flash and Java. It's pretty fast, but not as fast as I would like it to be. I use this as my main web browser. This for everyday stuff such as blogging, web browsing, and sometimes some youtube.

Webkit is the fastest honestly, LOVE IT. It can stream videos, it can use flash, java, javascript and everyday stuff. ONE PROBLEM, Webkit on my iBook has a LOT of glitches, when javascript is on, the browser crashes very often. When javascript is off, I can't even go on my browser. Random crashes on Webkit made me sick of it, but once the developers fix them up, I'm back to good old Webkit.

Aurorafox is claimed to be not bad, but that was a while ago. It's no longer updated (I believe) and it's slow after you have experienced TenFourFox and Webkit.

Conclusion, the combination of Webkit, Camino and Tenfourfox is awesome. It might be a little annoying switching between browser and browser, but what choice do you have? Hope this helped, give them all a try!

Block those ads!

Have you ever been angry because of all of those Pop up ads?? Well I bet you that you already have been annoyed. These ads can slow your computer to a snail, especially if you a low end computer. This applies to all Mac computers. This will block those Pop Ups for good!

Lets get started.

1. Open terminal

2. type : sudo nano /private/etc/hosts (don't forget the space between nano and /)

3. do down the list .

4. type 127.0.0.1 + 7 spaces.

5. then type the website you want to block

6. put vube.com as an example

7. press Control + X

8. press Y

9. press enter

10. try getting on vube.com

Windows Vista v.s Mac OS X Leopard

Obviously, we all know that OS X Leopard is much better of  an operating system then Vista.

Here are a few reasons why.

1. Vista is a copycat of Mac OS X,  Apple is the designer that made icons on a "dock". Vista also copied a lot more features.

2. Vista is full of bugs. Have you ever wondered why a lot of people downgraded from Vista after they upgraded from XP to Vista.

3. Vista looks horrible after experiencing the awesome looks of OS X Leopard.

4. Vista runs horribly on older computers, but OS X Leopard runs pretty smoothly on UNSUPPORTED Macs.

5. Vista is only for more powerful computers, same amount of RAM but Vista requires more VRAM. Vista runs very sluggishly with minimum requirements.

PowerPC games part 2!

On my previous post about PowerPC games, I mostly only mentioned PowerPC FPS games. Now, I'll show you some diversity.

Here is my top 5 list of games that are NOT FPS for PowerPC (some support Intel as well)

1. Age of empires series

The best freakin' game on earth!! I was disappointed when I could not get Age of empires  3 because my video card wasn't good enough :( But I bought Age of empires 2 and I AM ADDICTED. This is such a great game, full of strategy, action, sometimes it's even funny when you have a million archers shooting at 1 person. This is game is so worth it!! I even got the expansion packs. This is the first time I am having so much fun playing a strategy game. (I had to quit my iMac for a while just to play this)

2. Pac man the X, older versions support PowerPC, probably not the newer versions though. Are you excited for something and just want to kill some time? Well Pac man the X will do the trick, just like the original pac man except with improved graphics. You might have a hard time searching this so I have the link here : http://pac-the-man-x.en.uptodown.com/mac/download/1098

3. Emulators, I'm a little of a retro gamer (especially with the old Nintendo consoles) I was in love with these games ever after playing Super Mario 64 at my friend's house. I figured that PowerPC computers are not bad for emulation. Nestopia would be for NES games. I had a blast playing Super Mario 3 with old 8 bit (?) graphics. Snes9x are for Super Nintendo gamers, I get great fps with this emulator. Put it full screen, and you get the real SNES experience. Now for the famous N64, Sixtyforce IS THE BEST!! Although it costs money, I thought of it as a rip off, sound runs HORRIBLY on PowerPC, I'm not sure about a higher end G4 or G5, but on my iBook G4 (1.33 GHZ) it's unplayable unless you remove the sound. Anyways, you can always find the great serials for rip off software :0 :)

I get about 30 fps on sixtyforce without sound. Good Luck

4.  TUX PAINT!!!! Does your kid like painting? Well tux paint is the way to go, when I was little, I love stamping all the stamps on the app, you can actually make hilarious images with those stamps :) It's a freeware, try it out! Great time killer as well.

5.  Chopper, another freeware, one of those 2d helicopter shooting games. This one actually has a campaign, you have to rescue people and kill hostiles. I recommend you not to play normal mode, you'll get destroyed by antiaircraft defences.

I'm noting here that I have 20 games on my iBook G4, I'm a big fan of desktop gaming, but what if you want to go somewhere With your games? That's one of the reasons why I got the iBook, you can transport the games with you. I wish I got a PowerBook due to the 64 mbs video card. 32 vram just doesn't exactly cut it. But I still got the chance to play plenty of great games!!

Macs beat PCs

Now, today I will tell why macs beat PCs

-Macs do not get viruses, PCs are plagued with them.

-Macs already have great preinstalled apps (newer Intel Macs) such as iWork and iLife

-Macs look much better then PCs, so elegant!! My iBook G4 probably looks better then most modern PCs

-Macs have an great looking and user friendly operating system.

-Macs are very durable!! Who still uses a 2005 PC? Well I use 2005 Mac

-Macs are so so fast!! Some top class PCs might be better, but how much does that cost? Macs are very fast at everything.

-Size, Macs are basically always smaller then PCs, the mac mini is so small!! Compared to the big PC boxes that is.

-Upgrades, need more RAM? Video card isn't up to your standards? Well with a mac, upgrades are convenient and supported by Apple.

That pretty much proves to you that Macs are so much better then PCs!!

Ressurection time

Do you have a low end G4? Or do you not have the best video card? And is your computer very slow?

Well that is nothing to be afraid of, today I will give you 5 tips about how to speed up you Mac.

1. DOCK, if you have OS X Leopard, make sure that your dock is not 3d (unless you have a video card with more then 32mbs of RAM) This will make the dock look smoother as well as speeding up your computer, don't forget to turn of the Genie effect. Don't overdue the magnification as well.

2. HARD DRIVE, always keep your hard drive clean, this applies to all computer. Don't overload the desktop, delete applications you do not need and keep your folders clean.

3. MEMORY, Mac OS X is always RAM hungry, give it more RAM to make is satisfied. The more, the better. This is for all computers, just noting, once  you get more the 8gbs of RAM, you won't really notice the difference unless you are a gamer.

4. Disable Dashboard and spotlight, Dashboard and spotlight use up a LOT of memory, unless you have a high end mac, disable both of these features. A simple google search will tell you how to do so.

5. REBOOT, rebooting your computer frees up RAM and makes a difference. I recommend you to shut down your computer during night, then you will get a fast computer when you wake up.

First Intel post

Hey guys, today I'm gonna make a post about Intel macs.

I use very often an iMac with core i5 and a 27 inch screen, I do all my gaming and movie watching on that machine. As well, I am a national chess champion, I play my chess on the iMac. I'll give some tips about Intel Machines.

Intel is a processor, Intel was first used by Windows computers, but Apple changed to Intel in 2006. Apple used Intel Macs ever since.

I will give you some tips today.

1. Don't think that you have such a superior mac compared to windows computers. You probably do have a better computer then the average windows computer. But you don't have the best computer on earth either. Don't overload your Hard Drive, keep your computer clean, don't multitask like crazy and don't go on dangerous sites.

2. Always shut down your mac time to time, this applies to all Macs including PowerPC macs. This will free up a lot of RAM, and keep your computer fast. Sleeping the computer does not make that much of a difference because the processor is running.

3. do not get antivirus programs, the chance of your mac getting a virus is very very minimal. The antivirus will just slow down your computer more then it does good to it.

4. Get more RAM!!! This is the most important part of speeding up your mac. This actually applies to all computers, PCs and Macs. My eMachines desktop would be so much faster with an extra 512mbs of RAM. Mac OS X is very RAM hungry, the more, the better.

5.  Always prevent your mac from getting too hot.  It will damage your mac by overheating its components. Overclocking your mac won't do any good either, this will destroy your mac, so please! Do not overclock.

PowerPC games

Here is my personal list of top 5 PowerPC games (some support intel as well)

1. Wolfenstein ET (free)
It's a great fps game, offering a wide variety of weapons, smooth gameplay and great graphics. you don't need a particularly powerful computer to play this game. My iBook G4 runs this game very well, I put the settings low, but I get 30-50 frames per second.

2.Battlefield 1942 (paid)
One of  the old famous WW2 shooters, it offers a massive variety of guns, tanks, vehicles and aircraft. The graphics are not that good (even at top settings) but the gameplay is awesome, it might be a bit laggy on older and less powerful PowerPC computers, but just put the settings low, and you'll be fine.

3. Minecraft!! (free)
Yes, everyone knows the famous Minecraft!! You can't get the paid version even if you have an account, but you can get cracked versions on torrent sites. I have an account myself so I'm sure I can justify getting a cracked version. It runs horribly in singleplayer, but multiplayer is relatively smooth (30-60fps). Put the graphics low and get optifine.

4. Call Of Duty (paid)
Of course, Call Of Duty runs on the PowerPC, Cod 1 runs well enough (laggy during large gunfights) with a higher end G4 and G5, you'll get great frames per second. Cod 2 is only available for G4s and G5s with more then a 1.7 Ghz processor.

5.Emulators (free, some paid)
Are you a retro gamer? No problem, PowerPC can handle multiple old gaming platforms. My favorite is the N64, I had a lot of fun with that console when I was younger. I can run sixtyforce, it is paid, (you can find some serials though ;)) Nestopia would be for NES gamers, while Gameboy can be emulated by boycott advance. I'm not sure about other emulators, Ms-DOS runs fine with dosbox but I haven't checked out other ones such as the commodore 64 or the playstation.

Well, sorry most of these are fps games. I've been having a hard time trying to find strategy games, but I'll keep you guys updated.

Just pointing out that I will make more posts about retro gaming on the PowerPC platform.

Sorry, it's been a while since my first 2 posts.

I'm just pointing out today that I will also be posting stuff about Intel Macs, my family owns a Intel Mac 27inches and my sister owns a brand new MacBook Pro with Retina display. My mom's main computer is a HP Pavillion Elite (I barely ever used it after our iMac arrived). Now that leaves me, I own a eMachines Desktop (very low end from 2006) and I also own a iBook G4 12 inch model from 2005 with 768mbs of RAM.

I am not a big fan of Intel, it's fast, but it's like Apple said to Microsoft in 2006 : We are gonna switch to your processors now. But on the other hand, Intel can run windows software now, maybe someday macs can run windows software and windows can run mac software.

Right now, I'm very happy with my iBook G4 (I was a little disappointing when I didn't consider getting a PowerBook G4) . My friend has a MacBook Pro with Core i5, he's already bragging out how he can play big games and all of those modern bull****. But one day, he wanted to play Battlefield 1942 on his mac. Man I was happy that day :) that is only one of the reasons why I prefer PowerPC macs.

Anyways, PowerPC replaced Motorola processors in the mid 90s. Apple used PowerPC while Windows used Intel. Eventually IBM (PowerPC producer) couldn't advance in PowerPC technology, then Apple transferred to Intel core.

During the golden PowerPC era, several new computers were produced, they were in 3 different lines. 1. Laptops, PowerBooks and iBooks were in this line, iBooks were introduced later then Powerbooks, both were top class laptops. Powerbooks were higher end laptops while iBooks were more for the middle class.

2. Desktops, iMacs were the main desktops, these included the G3s G4s and G5s, they were very stylish. They looked great, they were powerful, the operating system was unique, the only flaw was that it was a bit expensive. 

3. Find the other parts! The Mac Mini and The Mac Pro were computers without screens, you had to buy them. Both computers were just as powerful as a regular mac, they were also very small, a big change from those bulky PC's.

Well this is just a short look at the PowerPC processor, there is much more to it then just this (I'm a bit lazy to type more right now).

How to boot PowerPC Macs VIA USB

For those of you who are tired of staying on OS X Tiger, I will help you then. This tutorial will show you how to get Mac OS X Leopard on your computer VIA USB

Step 1: get a bittorrent (I recommend uTorrent, here is the download link: ttp://www.oldapps.com/mac/utorrent.php?old_utorrent=9844)

Step 2: go to: http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/4687503/Mac_OS_X_Leopard_10.5.6_Full_Retail and click on Get This Torrent. The large download buttons are just fakes.

Step 3: Download the torrent

Step 4: Mount the image you just downloaded

Step 5: Open disk utility

Step 6: Plug in a USB Drive (8gbs minimum)

Step 7: Select your USB Drive

Step 8: Go to partition

Step 9: Click Volume Scheme and select 1 partition

Step 10: Name it: Mac OS X, for format, select Mac OS Extended Journaled

Step 11: for options, select Apple Partition Map (this is very very important)

Step 12: After, click on restore, drag your .dmg file to Source and drag your Mac OS X usb drive to destination. 

Step 13: Click restore and wait 40~ minutes

Step 14: Restart your computer while pressing ALT-COMMAND-O-F

Step 15: You will have a white display, release what you are pressing

Step 16: type boot ud:,\\:tbxi and Mac OS X should start booting :)

This is my first blog post.

PowerPC resurrection is a blog that will "resurrect" PowerMacs. I believe that PowerPCs are still great computers and that there is nothing wrong with them. True they are already past there prime, but I can do basically everything I need on my iBook G4. PowerPCs are basically macs with a different processor. Instead of Intel Core, PowerPC has PowerPC Architecture. The last ones were produced in 2006.

Now I will give you 5 tips about PowerPC

1. Flash runs horribly on PowerPC, so are you unable to watch your youtube videos? No problem, you can download a handy application called YouView. This app can stream youtube videos at 480p.

2. Your web browser is painfully slow? Well I got a solution, try WebKit, a browser based on Safari. Webkit is very fast, especially on PPC

3. Do you want to watch movies from DVDs but you are sick of DVD Player? Well there is VLC media player. It plays DVDs just fine.

4. Do you want to convert .AVI to .MP4? But you don't have an Intel mac? Well their is a great app called  Handbrake that does the job on PowerPC.

5. Do want to play music on your iPod Touch but you don't have a version of Itunes that can sync your iPod? Well, it's easy as downloading the later version of itunes. (does not support iPod 5 or iPhone 5 sadly)

This applications were tested on my iBook G4, 1.33 GHZ with 768 megabytes of RAM, running OS X LEOPARD. If you are running OS X Tiger, then you might not be able to run these apps.
